Ever wonder about the coffee process?
Check out this From the plant to the cup breakdown.
This is where it all begins. Grown in various regions of the world; quality coffee is only grown within 1000 miles along the equatorial belt. Its a sunny place that has the perfect environments for the coffee to thrive.
Coffee farmers all over the world make it their lives to grow and harvest that perfect bean. Durning the dry season the coffee cherries turn a bright glossy red and they are ready to be harvested. The cherries are harvested by hand and the process begins.
In the center of these cherries what is more likely know as the pit is actually the coffee bean. They are called a bean because of its close resemblance to an actual bean. The green coffee beans are very hard and have no post roasting coffee aroma at all.
After the beans are picked and cleaned through a "washed" or an "unwashed" process and dried. They are prepared for shipment to coffee roasters all over the world.
The roasting process could go many different ways. At this point the coffee takes on one if its important traits. It will be at this stage that the bean becomes a mild, medium, a dark roast. A little known fact is the darker the roast (the longer its in contact with heat) the less caffeine the bean embodies.
Pulling the perfect espresso shot can be a complex art. Its a skill that takes time and practice to master. When the shot is pulled correctly it should be smooth yet bold and have 3 distinct layers the heart which is at the bottom and is a rich dark color, the body which is the middle and a darker caramel color, and the crema which is the top light carmel color foam.
